Who is Eligible

If you have been involved in a motor vehicle accident on South Australian roads and sustained serious injuries you may be eligible to become a participant of the Lifetime Support Scheme (LSS).

Types of eligible injuries include:

  • brain injury (moderate to severe)
  • spinal cord injury
  • severe burns
  • blindness
  • amputation.

To be accepted into the LSS, your eligibility criteria will be assessed against the LSS Rules.

We will make a decision about your eligibility based on your motor vehicle accident and motor vehicle injuries. You will be asked to complete an application and provide relevant documents.

You or someone acting on your behalf can submit an application to us. This includes a family member or the insurer who holds the Compulsory Third Party cover for the relevant motor vehicle.

We will assess your application against the LSS Rules to determine your eligibility.

Our assessment is based on the information provided during the application process. Your documentation must include a completed application form and any applicable documents that support your application.

To lodge an application follow the steps in the How to Apply section.

If you have any further questions please call us (Toll free) on 1300 880 849 or email lifetime.support@sa.gov.au.

If you disagree with a decision about your eligibility, you are eligible to lodge a dispute with us. Further information is outlined in the Reassessment and Disputes section.
