The LSA is in the process of awarding 9 new project grants which were approved at the end of 2021.


These projects are:

  • WorkGain: Stakeholder Experiences of Work-specific Rehabilitation Program
  • Prevalence, management, and treatment of cognitive dysfunction after spinal cord injury: A new way to train the brain
  • Evaluating a novel gait training technology to improve physical health after complex trauma injury
  • The impact of home automation: social return on investment and case studies
  • Capacity building in complex assistive technology solution skills for rehabilitation and participation outcomes
  • Alcohol, illicit drugs and prescription medications used by drivers, riders and pedestrians hospitalised after a road crash
  • Implementing best proactive approaches for managing agitation and aggression following traumatic brain injury (TBI) in hospital and rehabilitation settings
  • A dance program to improve physical function in individuals with recent acquired brain injury: a feasibility study conducted at Flinders Medical Centre
  • Physiotherapy Clinical Practice Guidelines for People with Spinal Cord Injury – Expanding a NSW initiative to involve South Australia

Following on from the success of the 2021 grant round, the latest grants program is currently running, having opened on 10 January and it closes 31 March 2022. Working collaboratively, the LSA will fund research, education and programs that support positive outcomes for people injured due to road trauma.
