For some participants in the Lifetime Support Scheme, it can be a time of significant change and adjustment so an opportunity to connect with other participants and share the experiences of their motor vehicle accident and recovery is welcomed.

Twice a year, the LSA holds a Participant Forum and invites participants and their families to come together and hear from guest speakers. A forum was held on 3 November 2023 with 40 people attending. The key presentations included:

  • A Lifetime Support Scheme update by Kylie Smith, Director, Services
  • Liz Forsyth, CEO of Brain Injury SA shared her tips and resources on community accessibility to events including the Fringe Festival and WOMAD
  • A Lifetime Support Scheme participant shared the story of his motorcycle accident

The forum was followed by a shared lunch and a chance to mingle with LSA staff and other participants. For those participants who are living in a rural location or not able to attend the forum, the presentations are recorded and shared with all participants online so they can keep up-to-date with the latest news.
