We started the calendar year with our usual strategic and financial review. The Finance team have been busy working with Finity, our actuary, to prepare the valuation and LSS Levy reports, to help us determine the levy needed to charge motorists next financial year to meet our predicted participant treatment, care and support liabilities.

The Board held a strategic planning session on 16 February. This was an important opportunity to discuss the current and future vision for the LSA. This session was also the final Board meeting with Board Chair, Melinda OLeary.

Melinda has served on the LSA Board since its establishment in October 2013. She helped put in place the necessary service delivery, corporate governance, and financial frameworks before the commencement of the Scheme on 1 July 2014 as well as watching it grow from a start-up into the organisation it is today. I would like to thank Melinda for her guidance and commitment to the LSA over her 10 ½ years of service including as Board Chair for the last 2 ½ years.

As we farewelled Melinda OLeary from the LSA Board, we also welcomed two new board members, Tim Binks and Andrew Culley. Andrew has also taken on the role of LSA Board Chair, having worked in Adelaide for most of his career. He has an affinity with the issues faced by both private and public organisations in our state. He is a passionate advocate for the advancement of the South Australian economy. I look forward to working with Andrew over the coming years as he takes responsibility for steering the LSA through its next phase of growth.

In February, I had the pleasure of attending one of the three LSA Allied Health Service Provider Forums. This was a great opportunity to share information and connect with allied health professionals, across a range of disciplines, who support Scheme participants.
